World of Warcraft Quest Guide: "Mission: The Murketh and Shaadraz Gateways"
Aerial bombardment is your task in this Hellfire Peninsula mission. Meet up with Forward Commander Kingston, then mount up and drop some bombs on some unsuspecting demons and their gateways.
Forward Commander Kingston is impressed with your work in the “Disrupt Their Reinforcements" mission and decides to give you an even more important task: the aerial bombardment of two more nearby gateways.
That’s right, you’ll be taking them out from aboard a specially-trained gryphon. Once he gives you the tools for the task, you’re off to complete your first bombing run.
“Mission: The Murketh and Shaadraz Gateways"
Forward Commander Kingston is still hanging out at Expedition Point in Hellfire Peninsula, right where you found him when you turned in the prerequisite for this mission: “Disrupt Their Reinforcements."
Speak to him again and he’ll hand you a very special piece of equipment, the “Seaforium PU-36 Explosive Nether Modulator," which is a very fancy name for what is essentially a thrown explosive. Once you’ve picked up your ordinance, head over to Wing Commander Dabir’ee (you’ll find him just to the left of the commander) and he’ll put you on a gryphon that heads off to the target area.
Before you take off, you may wish to switch to a hotbar you’re not currently using (you won’t need any of your abilities for this mission) and drag the Seaforium explosive to it so you can simply use your number key to activate the explosive rather than clicking your inventory and back to the ground to aim. You can activate the explosives by right clicking if you wish, it’s just easier to use the hotbar.
Speak to the Wing Commander and you’ll appear aboard a gryphon. Your flying mount will make two passes around the gates before heading back, so don’t sweat it too much if you happen to miss on the first pass.
Your bombs have a cooldown, so make sure you’re in range before you throw one. Right clicking or pressing the hotkey button will bring up your aiming cursor, use it to click near the portals to throw bombs at them. You don’t have to get a direct hit, just ensure that the portal is within the blast radius. Watch for the message that pops up to confirm you’ve hit each target.
Don’t worry about the mobs you see walking near the portals. You can’t harm them with your bombs and there’s no sense wasting a cooldown trying to do so. Feel free to unoad on them if you just want to blow off some steam after you’ve taken out the portals, though. It won’t have any effect, but attacking demons always feels good.
A Perfect Landing
Your gryphon will automatically take you back to Expedition Point where you’ll need to speak once again to Forward Commander Kingston to complete the quest and pick up your reward.
Quite possibly the easiest 12000 experience points you’ll ever earn.
