World of Warcraft Quest Guide: "The Arakkoa Threat"

For all their grand boasts and storied reputation, the Longbeards sure don't seem to have a problem asking others to do their dirty work. In "The Arakkoa Threat," you'll head into the nearby Den of Haal'esh to finish the job they were paid to do.

Once you’ve helped Mirren and Gremni secure their camp from the local Rampaging Ravagers, Gremni will again solicit your assistance with their primary task, the elimination of the Arakkoa Threat that has been attacking Honor Hold patrols.

For a pair of world-famous marksmen and hunters, the Longbeards don’t seem to do much of their own hunting. Still, there’s some decent experience points and a bit of gold in it for you, so you might as well help them out.

    "The Arakkoa Threat"

The Longbeards Camp The object of this quest is simple, enter the Den of Haal’esh to the immediate South East of the Longbeards’ camp in Hellfire Peninsula and take out four Haal’eshi Windwalkers and 6 Haal’eshi Talonguards.

If you head down the path that leads out of the Longbeards’ camp and take an immediate right, you’ll find the entrance to a canyon with a pair of scarecrow-looking totems flanking the path. This is the entrance to the Den of Haal’esh.

The Talonguards hanging around outside are a good indicator, as well.

    Harrass the Haal'eshi

The Haal’eshi Talonguards are basic melee fighters, little challenge if you carefully engage them one at a time. Their counterparts, Haal'eshi Talonguard and Windwalker the Haal’eshi Windwalkers, can be a little more complicated with their Lightning and Hurricane attacks.

The Windwalkers have fewer hit points, so it’s best to take them down quickly before they can fire off too many of their high-damage attacks. Keep your spell-interrupting skills ready and you should have little problem with them.

You shouldn’t have to venture too far into the Den of Haal’esh to complete this quest, so you can probably avoid heading up onto the upper levels unless someone else is in the area taking up all the quest mobs. If you’re fighting in the caves off to the right side, though, be prepared to deal with some Kaliri backup. These pesky birds will attack if you engage any nearby Haal’eshi, so be ready to deal with them.

If you’re competing for mobs with other questers (which is rare in Outland these days, but does happen), a good tactic is to hop onto your flying mount and head for the upper floors. Leave the Haal’eshi on the ground to your competition while you take out the ones above all by yourself.

    Return to the Longbeards

Once you’ve got your ten total Haal’eshi kills, make your way back out to the Longbeards’ camp. Once you arrive and speak to Gremni, he’ll reward you handsomely. Not only do you receive over 11k experience points, but you’ll also get nearly six gold.

Gremni will also offer to make you an honorary Longbeard, a small favor considering you’re the one that did all the work to preserve their vaunted reputation as master hunters.
