Blizzard has been tight-lipped about the existence of a Collector’s Edition of World of Warcaft: Cataclysm, but their track record of releasing an exclusive, higher-priced version, starting with the game’s original launch, led most gamers to expect that one would eventually be announced.
So, to practically no one’s surprise, the Cataclysm Collector’s Edition was recently announced. Like its predecessors, the CE contains a full version of the expansion along with a larger package filled with exclusive content.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector's Edition Contents
The CE will also come with a full version of the expansion, allowing players to reach level 85 and play as the new Goblin and Worgen races.
For budding game designers, or those who just want to delve as deep as possible into the making of their favorite game, the CE contains a behind the scenes DVD on the making of the expansion, including over an hour of developer interviews and a full collection of the game’s promotional trailers.
For those interested in the graphic design and concept development process that goes into a major project like Catacysm, the CE will also come with a 176 page “Art of Cataclysm” book featuring a full overview of the visual design process from concept art to finished, in-game assets.
If you just can’t get enough of the in-game music, the CE also ships with a CD filled with 17 tracks from the new expansion. Perfect for blasting from your car speakers.
Looking for a cool place to put your mouse? When you buy the Cataclysm Collector’s Edition, you’ll also take home a special-edition mousepad featuring Deathwing wreaking havoc on the continents of Azeroth.
As the MMORPG changes, the card game based on it must change as well, so the CE of Cataclysm comes with a 60-card TCG starter deck and two new hero cards featuring Goblin and Worgen heroes.

Exclusive In-Game Content
All the contents of the box are definitely cool, but most people will just end up eventually storing them on a shelf. It’s the in-game items that get the most use, and the Cataclysm Collector’s Edition has its own in-game pet unavailable through other means.
Players who purchase the CE will receive the “Lil’ Deathwing” pet, who faithfully flies along behind them any time he is summoned. This non-combat pet isn’t as powerful as his larger counterpart, but he’ll look good fluttering along with players as they work toward level 85.
These extra bonuses aren’t without additional costs, as the CE will cost approximately twice as much as a regular edition of the expansion. With all the exclusive contents, though, it seems a small price to pay.
